Bridge House Mile Brand Ambassador, Michelle Weber Olympian Open Water Swimmer is the only female swimmer who qualified for the South African Rio Olympics team in 2016.

Q: How did you get into …… (add appropriate word describing your field)
A: Started swimming at the age of 5 after my older sister dove in at a school gala and
had to use a noodle to swim across the pool.
Q: How many siblings do you have and where do you fit in the pecking order?
A: 1 of 4 siblings. I’m the 2nd oldest
Q: Are you more of a hunter or a gatherer?
Q: You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What colour would you be and why?
A: Purple. Because it’s one of my favourite colours
Q: We finish this interview and you step outside the office and find a lottery ticket that
ends up winning R10 million. What would you do?
Q: What do you think about when you’re alone in your car?
A: My family and what I need to get done for the day.
Q: What do you listen to when a) going to work, b) gym or c) relaxing?
A: a and b – something upbeat to get me pumped for the day and c – gospel music
Q: If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?
A: Either a bird or a dolphin. A bird so that I could fly anywhere I like and a dolphin
because they always look they’re having fun.
Q: What was the last gift you gave someone?
A: A slab of chocolate for a swimmer’s birthday who joined me for Share-A-Lane.
Q: What were you like in high school?
A: Quiet but loud with my closest friends
Q: What’s the last thing you watched on TV and why did you choose to watch it?
A: Friends – I can’t get enough of it
Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?
A: Something in fitness and nutrition and/or beauty and fashion
Q: What inspires you?
A: My faith in God
Q: Tell us something we don’t know about you?
A: I said if I could be any animal I would be a bird but I’m actually terrified of birds
Q: What do you work toward/hobbies in your free time?
A: Working to qualify for my second Olympic Games
Q: Describe the colour yellow to somebody who is blind.
A: Colour that represents happiness and liveliness
Q: What record do you hold? Or if no record, which one would you like to set?
A: I hold numerous South African Age Group Swimming records
Q: What would your autobiography be called?
A: Rising Above
Q: You’re on death row, what would your last meal be?
A: Large pizza followed by chocolate brownies.
Q: What is the best and worst purchases you have ever made?
A: Best purchase is a nutribullet (I absolutely love it) Worst purchase would be the
ones where I bought things after fashion trends
Q: What is the most useless talent you have?
A: Being able to hold my breathe
Q: You’ve been given an elephant, you can’t give it away or sell it, what would you do
with the elephant?
A: I’d keep the elephant as a pet and go on it for rides
The 6th Annual Bridge House Mile takes place at the spectacular York Dam at Boschendal Estate, Franschhoek on Saturday, 2nd March 2019.
Boasting various distances including 100m and 200m (for the kiddies), 400m, 800m and the Elite Mile, the 2019 event is set to be the best ever.
