During the month of May the annual release of the Paserene Chardonnay will be celebrated with a swinging seafood-inspired Saturday Fish Fry on the deck of the tasting lounge. The new Chardonnay can be sipped and savoured, whilst listening to upbeat swing music, sampling the finest seafood and relaxing in the Autumn sunshine overlooking the mountains and vineyards.
Saturday Fish Fry will take place on the 18th May 2019 from 12.30pm and guests can expect a luxury Paserene version of ‘Fish and Chips’ and other seafood delights prepared on the coals from their 3-tiered braai invention. Sushi-a-plenty, fresh line fish with sinful sauces and sea-side dishes will be on the menu for all to enjoy. The new Paserene Chardonnay 2017, and the rest of the range will keep guests swinging throughout the afternoon.
The Paserene Chardonnay, in its 5th vintage is harvested from vineyards in Elgin and is a charming expression of cool-climate elegance. The wine spent 16 months in French oak barrels, which allows for balance between the fine acidity and a creamy oat character, making it the perfect sip for any wine lover. Co-owner and winemaker, Martin Smith, explains; “The 2017 Chardonnay is complex and layered, with a good balance between acid and creaminess. I would suggest trying it now, but also keeping a few bottles back for another year or two for the flavours to fully develop”.
The Saturday Fish Fry and Chardonnay takes place from 12.30pm – 17.00pm on the 18th May at Paserene in Franschhoek. Tickets cost R400 per person or R750 per couple and includes the luxury seafood lunch, a glass of Chardonnay and all the swing music you could hope for! Children under 10 enter free of charge and children between the ages of 10 – 18 years pay R110 per person. All of the Paserene wines will be on sale by the glass and bottle for the duration of the afternoon. A sneak-peak of the new wine range, named Wren, will also be available for tasting.
