On the first Thursday in August this year, residents and visitors in Paarl will have an opportunity to visit the stunning gardens at 161 Main road and view a range of magnificent work by local fine artists and sculptors at the inaugural Paarl Art Week Market day. The event will not only host artwork, but also a variety of fine food and drinks. Guests at the event will be welcomed by the aroma of freshly ground coffee, raw juices and smoothies and sumptuous food on offer at the market. Entrance is free and the market starts at 10:00 until 18:00.
This one day event will form part of the week long Paarl Art Week. ART IN PAARL will be taking place between Monday, 29 July – Saturday, 3 August 2019.
During this week more than 30 local artists will be exhibiting at 18 locations located mainly along Paarl’s Main Road and visitors will be able to view paintings, sculptures, ceramics, illustrations and jewellery. ART IN PAARL’s focus is to introduce the newly established Paarl Art Society to the community and put the spotlight on our region’s abundant, rich and diverse artistic talent and skills.
Artists exhibiting at the event at 161 Main road in Paarl include Kock Odendaal, Madeleine Eve, Riana de Klerk, Jenny Kentgens, Randall Philander, Dion Futerman and Celia Janse van Rensburg, who is also the organiser of the event and owner at Celia’s Art Gallery at 161 Main road in Paarl. Celia is also a member of the Paarl Art Society and an active member of the International Watercolour society and have had work accepted in various exhibitions.Her painting ‘Fever Tree’ won second prize in the SA Artist magazine competition in 2013 and she has recently moved to Paarl from Polokwane.The Art Week Market Day event is taking place during Paarl Interskole. This is without a doubt a highlight on the annual event calendar in the region and a peak time for Paarl as the Interskole event draws tens of thousands of people from across the country and the globe to Paarl every year.
